Follow the trends:

  • Incumbent Chief Minister Pramod Sawant says the BJP will return to power with a resounding mandate. However, the exit polls say that BJP and Congress both have fair chances of winning in the elections.
  • India Today-Axis My India Exit Poll says that Congress may win 15-20 seats in Goa, BJP may win 14-18 seats, TMC+ an average of 4 seats and others an average of 2 seats.
  • Already, resort politics is underway in Goa. Congress and AAP have all herded their MLAs into resorts, fearing horse-trading.

Like Manipur, BJP came to power in Goa after the Congress government toppled due to defecting MLAs. However, even if any party comes to power with a clear mandate, there is a possibility of the MLAs of the winning party, switching sides. Also, much of the power rests on the independent candidates.

Voting here for the Goa State Assembly Elections 2022 was held on February 14 for 40 assembly seats. The number of seats needed to win is 21.

Exit poll results say that Congress has a chance to win here, but BJP is hot on its heel.

Counting began at 8 am
