21-year-old Sini Shetty crowned Miss India 2022. Who is she?

Sini Shetty, 21 year-old from Karnataka has won the Miss India 2022 title. Shetty was crowned by her predecessor Miss India 2020, Manasa Varanasi from Telangana. Rajasthan’s Rubal Shekhawat was the first runner-up, while Uttar Pradesh’s Shinata Chouhan was declared as the second runner-up. 

The event was held at JIO World Convention Centre in Mumbai on Sunday (July 4).

The decision was announced from the official Instagram handle of Miss India. The caption read: “Congratulations, let’s pop the champagne.”

The handle said: “These ladies have a powerful voices and we’re sure that they’re going to use this platform to further all important causes that they believe in. We’ve seen the passion with which they’ve worked for these titles and must say that they deserve every bit of this.”

WHO IS SINI SHETTY?

The 21-year-old girl was born in Mumbai but lives in Karnataka. She has a bachelors degree in accounting and finance. At present, she is pursuing a career as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).  

Sini began dancing at the age of four and by 14, she had completed her Arangetram and Bharatanatyam training. It was her family and close relatives who motivated her to pursue her career in arts. 

“You can’t just pimp to the end. Journey is the best part. Know what the achievement means to you, respect it,” Sini said after winning the contest, Hindustan Times reported. 

She also said that every woman should strive to become tenacious, industrious and compassionate. She also added that she herself is industrious and tenacious with the ability to be empathetic and be a hustler. 

START-STUDDED EVENT

The event which was held in Mumbai, comprised jury panel of artists like Neha Dhupia, Dino Morea, Malaika Arora, choreographer Shiamak Dawar and cricketer Mithali Raj. Besides this, Kriti Sanon and Lauren Gottileb also performed at the event. Manish Paul with Rajkumar Rao hosted the event.

The event also marked the 20 years of Neha Dhupia winning the Miss India Crown. 

The show will be telecast on July 17 on Colors TV.

THE PROCESS

The pageant Miss in the hybrid format conducted virtual auditions of candidates from across the country. The process led the team getting 31 state winners.

These 31 shortlisted candidates were brought in Mumbai where they underwent a training and a grooming session, mentored by best from the industry, a note from the pageant said, Indian Express reported.
