The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) General Secretary Jay Shah on Thursday announced that the board will now give equal remuneration to men and women cricketers.
"I am pleased to announce BCCI's first step towards tackling discrimination. We are implementing pay equity policy for our contracted BCCI women cricketers. The match fee for both Men and Women cricketers will be same as we move into a new era of gender equality in cricket," he wrote on Twitter.

He further said that the per match fee of women cricketers will now be same as man, which is Rs 15 lakh for a Test match, Rs 6 lakh per ODI and Rs 3 lakh per T20I match. "Pay equity was my commitment to our women cricketers and I thank the Apex Council for their support," he said.
Why the decision now? Indian women cricketers have been doing really well for quite some time now.
