If getting out of your blankets seems a task at the moment in North India, it is about to get a little worse over the weekend, predict weather watchers. The plains of North India might see temperatures as low as -4 degrees Celsius (yes, minus 4; the - is not a typo).
Does that mean it will snow in the plains? Well, the Internet might want it, what with all the North-Pole memes going round; but looks like it will just be a more intense cold wave. No snowfall in the plains so far, we're guessing.
A cold blast: Navdeep Dahiya, who is the founder of the weather platform Live Weather India, had some scary predictions for the week from January 14 to January 19.
Don't know how to put this up but upcoming spell of #Coldwave in #India look really extreme during 14-19th January 2023 with peak on 16-18th, Never seen temperature ensemble going this low in a prediction model so far in my career.

Freezing -4°c to +2°c in plains, Wow! pic.twitter.com/pyavdJQy7v
A Western disturbance saw the temperatures in North India rising a little this week, but looks like the weekend will bring 'frosty mornings' and 'cold blast days', according to Dahiya.
So, is January 2023 going to be the coldest for Delhi in the 21st century?
Cold wave in North India: In general, North India is known to experience cold waves during the winter months, with temperatures dropping below freezing in some areas. These cold waves can be caused by the movement of cold air masses from the Himalayas and can lead to freezing temperatures, snowfall, and icy conditions.
