Haunted farmhouse that inspired The Conjuring is sold. What happened in the house?

The Rhode Island farmhouse that inspired the famous horror movie The Conjuring (2013), has finally been sold at US $1.525 million, Forbes reported. It also reported that the house was sold at a 27% higher rate than the original asking value.

The house, which is known for giving its owners a harrowing experience, was acquired by Jacqueline Nunez, a real estate developer from Boston. In 2019, paranormal investigators Jenn and Cory Heinzen had bought the 3,100-square foot house for US $4,39,000.

Located in the county of Harrisville, United States, the Rhode Island farmhouse is spread across 200 acres.

The house showed its colours when Carolyn Perron and Roger Perron purchased it in 1971 and moved in with their five daughters: Nancy, Andrea, Christine, Cynthia and April. The family didn’t know that the house had been a site of tragedy for eight generations and they were the ninth to see it. They lived there from 1971 to 1980.

The only thing Andrea Perron, one of the five daughters remembers is the seller of the house telling her father, “Keep the lights on at night.” Andrea wrote her account in her self-published book, House of Darkness House of Light

WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED?

The house is reported to be built by Jedson Sherman in 1863. He had married Bathsheba Thayer, whose spirit apparently haunted the house. The couple had a baby on March 10, 1844.

But then, there is no official account of what happened. When she lived on the farm in the 1800s, fingers were pointed at her when an infant died in her care, mysteriously.

When the baby was examined, it was found that there was a deep wound on the head of the baby, which could have possibly been from a large sewing needle. The people of the town believed that Bathsheba sacrificed the infant as an offering to the devil. But the court found the evidence insufficient and found her innocent. But the public was not convinced.

However, in the movie The Conjuring, it was said that the lady sacrificed her son for Satan, ran out of the house to the tree and hanged herself.

It is said that the spirit of Bathsheba had been haunting the house since then. The place is also called one of the most haunted houses in the US.

Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren describe this as one of the crucial cases in their career. Carolyn Perron once told Ed and Lorraine about an incident, when she was apparently lying on the sofa and felt a sudden, piercing pain in her calf, after which the muscle began to spasm.
