Mid-air fight between German man and Thai wife diverts Lufthansa Munich-Bangkok flight to Delhi

A fight between a German man and his Thai wife resulted in Lufthansa flight LH772 to be diverted to Delhi. The flight was from Munich to Bangkok.
What happened
- Sources told ANI that the flight had to be diverted to Delhi because of a dispute between a husband and wife, "The decision came after the cabin crew reported disruptive conduct on board, specifically a dispute between a husband and wife."
- The husband is a German national and his wife is from Thailand.
- The aviation security of Delhi airport told the news agency that "the reason for the fight between husband and wife is not known yet but the flight had to be diverted due to the fight between husband and wife".
The flight had initially asked for permission to land at a nearby airport in Pakistan. However, because of certain reasons, the request was not granted.
The male passenger was de-boarded and handed over to Delhi airport security and his wife flew to Thailand. There were 507 passengers in total, but only 506 passengers landed in Bangkok as the husband was de-boarded.
LH772 took off from the Delhi airport at 12.26 pm IST, and is scheduled to land in Bangkok at 4.45 pm local time, according to Google and Flightradar24 data.
The scheduled time of landing in Bangkok for LH772 is 2.55 pm Bangkok time.
Unruly passengers in the past
There have been several instances in the past where passengers on various airlines have acted unruly onboard.
- In the previous month, a case was filed by Delhi Police against a man aboard Air India flight AI 102 travelling from New York to Delhi. The charges included alleged verbal abuse directed at a female crew member and the creation of disturbance during the flight. According to an ANI report, officials stated that a case was filed against the passenger, identified as Abhinav Sharma from Jalandhar, Punjab. The charges include his use of abusive language towards a female cabin crew member and causing a disturbance on the flight.
- In June 2023, a shocking incident took place on Lufthansa flight LH1704 that was supposed to depart Munich International Airport (MUC) for Sofia International Airport (SOF) was delayed by three hours because one of the female passenger, a 27-year-old woman, reportedly started stripping off her clothes. Subsequently, the aircraft retraced its path to the gate, and a group of police officers was summoned into the cabin to assist in subduing the unruly passenger, who was also shouting. Despite the efforts of the police officers, the woman refused to calm down or cover up. In an attempt to manage the situation, one of the police officers endeavoured to drape a blanket around the woman, but she responded by biting the officer on the left forearm.
