In an another ghastly crime incident in Mumbai, a 56-year-old man was arrested for killing his live-in partner and chopping her body into pieces at his rented apartment in Mira Road area.
Sources in the police told India Today that the man chopped the body of his partner with a tree cutter and also boiled her body parts in a cooker.
Police said that the accused, Manoj Sahani, had been living with with Saraswati Vaidya, 36, in flat 704 at Geeta Akash Deep building in Geeta Nagar Phase 7 over the past three years. On Wednesday (June 7) evening, the cops were alerted by local residents who complained of a foul smell emanating from the flat.

A police team team rushed to the spot and found the decomposed body of the woman, which was cut into several pieces. Police are suspecting that the murder could have occurred three-four days ago.
"Manoj Sahani and Saraswati Vaidya were in a live-in relationship and used to live in the Geeta Akash Deep building. The couple had a fight over some matter following which the woman was murdered by her partner. Her body was cut into pieces with a cutter. When we reached the house and opened the door, we understood it was a case of murder and the suspect tried to hide the evidence, "Jayant Bajbale, deputy commissioner of police (zone 1) told India Today.
In another such horrific murder in May last year, a man identified as Aaftab Poonawala had murdered his live-in-partner Shraddha Walkar. He had chopped her body into pieces and kept them in a fridge for almost three weeks at his house in Delhi's Mehrauli.
