Ola Electric's Ola S1 Air scooter will be open for purchase from July 28 to July 30 for all those who have reserved it. For everyone else, the latest offering from Ola Electric will be open to orders from July 31. Ola S1 Air is the most affordable e-scooter from Ola Electric so far.

  • The introductory price of Ola S1 Air is Rs 1.09 lakh and it will be applicable to the first few units only.
  • Ola S1 Air will cost Rs 1.19 lakh after the introductory offer ends.

Features

  • Ola S1 Air comes with a top speed of 90 km/hr with a range of 125 km, which is the lowest among all other Ola scooters.
  • Ola S1 Air comes with MoveOS 3 technology and houses a 3KWh lithium-ion battery.
  • According to Ola Electric's website, it takes approximately 5 hours to fully charge the battery.
  • Ola S1 Air can also accelerate from 0-40 km in just 4.3 seconds.
  • There are three modes on the scooter, Eco, Sport, and Reverse.
  • Ola said that it tested the S1 Air over a distance of 5 lakh kilometres and aims to position the scooter as a competitor to TVS's iQube electric scooter.

The challenges ahead

  • Ola Electric has been getting quite the bad press since launching its e-scooters on the road.
  • Customers have complained that Ola's e-scooters have been faulty, replete with endless issues, which at times have even resulted in accidents.

  • In fact, just this month, an FIR was filed in Kerala after an Ola S1 pro suddenly caught fire in the middle of the night while parked inside a garage.
  • The fire also engulfed another scooter and a TV and in total resulted in damages worth nearly Rs 5 lakh.
  • The primary investigation reportedly revealed that it is not a case of arson.
  • A similar case of S1 Pro going up flames was reported in Pune last year.
  • Not just fire, customers have complained about issues with Ola's electric scooter's front fork breaking, tyres, software and more.

One look at Ola Electric's "replies" section on Twitter reveals a tide of consumer complaints ranging from bad customer service, and faulty vehicles to issues with order placement. It needs to be seen how Ola S1 Air will perform on the road.
