NATO to renew its vow to Ukraine? NATO is repeating its vow that Ukraine will join the world's biggest military alliance. NATO foreign ministers are gathering for two days in the Romanian capital Bucharest from Tuesday (November 29). It was there in April 2008 that US President George W Bush persuaded his allies to open NATO's door to Ukraine and Georgia, reported AP.
Death and destruction so far: The most senior US General estimates that around 100,000 Russian and 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed or injured in the war in Ukraine, reported BBC. Gen Mark Milley, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, also suggested that around 40,000 civilians had died after being caught up in the fight between the forces.
The war in Ukraine has also led to one of the worst refugee crises ever. More than 6.7 people have fled Ukraine since Russia invaded their country.
