
The result of the Union Public Service Commission’s (UPSC) Civil Services Exam 2021 was declared on Monday. Shruti Sharma from Delhi has secured the top rank. All the top four ranks have been secured by female candidates. The second position has been secured by Ankita Agarwal followed by Gamini Singla on number three.
A total of 10,93,984 candidates applied for the exam. 5,08,619 candidates appeared for the examinations, out of which 9,214 candidates appeared for the Main (written) examination.

1. UPSC AIR Rank 1: Shruti Sharma
Shruti Sharma from Delhi is a graduate from St Stephens College, Delhi University. She later started doing her post-graduation from Jawarharlal Nehru University (JNU), but dropped it. Later, she pursued her post-graduation from Delhi School of Economics.
For UPSC, Sharma, 26, prepared at Jamia Millia Islamia Residential Coaching Academy. In an interview after the result declaration, she said that she was hoping for a positive result but not the first rank.

2. UPSC AIR Rank 2: Ankita Agarwal
Ankita Agarwal, 25, from Kolkata, West Bengal cleared the exam in her third attempt. She is a graduate in Economics Hons from St Stephen’s College.
While working at a corporate job in 2019, she gave her first attempt and secured 239th rank. In 2020, she left her job to prepare for the exam in full swing.
'More than strategy, I think if someone wants to be a civil servant, they should be very clear about their motivation as only that will push you on difficult days. Consistency is key,' she said in an interview. She also revealed that she left all social media platforms to prepare for the exam without any distractions.
'The issues of poverty, unemployment, climate change, etcetera, prevalent in other countries, are across the table everywhere. 3. UPSC AIR Rank 3: Gamini Singla
Gamini Singla is from an engineering background. She completed her BTech in Computer Science from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh.
The 23-year-old topper cracked the exam in her second attempt.
“Hard work and support from parents helped me achieve my childhood dream of becoming an IAS officer,” said Singla.
Her parents, Dr Alok Singla and Dr Neeraj Singla both are medical officers in Himachal Pradesh government.
