Who is YouTuber Mallu Traveller and why are cops looking for him?

Social media can bring both fame and notoriety. A Youtuber, who was a star and an inspiration to some, is now being pursued by the police after a Saudi woman accused him of sexual assault.
We are referring to Kerala-based Youtuber Shakir Subhan, widely known by his social media moniker, 'Mallu Traveller.' The 33-year-old hailing from Kerala is renowned for his global travel adventures, which he shares on his YouTube channel, Mallu Traveller.
Who is he?
Shakir was born on April 10, 1990, in Iritty, Kannur, Kerala, and comes from a middle-class family. He received his upbringing and education in Kerala.
A graduate of Mahatma Gandhi College, Iritty, Shakir, a father of two, gained fame through his online presence, where he posted videos chronicling his travels.
In 2018, he embarked on his YouTube journey under the alias Mallu Traveller. His initial videos showcased his adventures in numerous countries, including Ukraine, Turkey, Bahrain, Ireland, Hungary, and France. According to a source, his monthly net worth is estimated at Rs 1 lakh.
Why is the police searching for him?
The Kerala Police has issued a lookout circular against Shakir in connection with a sexual assault case involving a Saudi woman.
A 29-year-old Saudi woman residing in Kochi filed a complaint against Shakir, alleging that he sexually assaulted her in a hotel room in Kochi. The incident reportedly occurred on September 13, 2023.
According to India Today, the woman stated that she had visited Shakir at the hotel with her fiancé, as Shakir was supposed to interview her for some purpose. In her complaint, she alleged that while her friend was outside, Shakir assaulted her.
The Ernakulam Police station registered a case against Shakir and issued an order against him. Shakir, who was not in India at the time, initially stated that he would return and cooperate with the authorities. However, when he did not respond further, the police had to issue a lookout circular. This notice alerts authorities at airports and border crossings, ensuring that if Shakir attempts to enter Kerala, he will be detained for questioning.
Meanwhile, the woman has provided her statement to a Magistrate as part of the ongoing investigation.
On his part, Shakir has taken to social media to vehemently deny all allegations against him.
