Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday (May 22) night took a truck from Ambala while travelling from Delhi to Chandigarh. Videos of the incident have gone viral on social media. After travelling in the truck, Gandhi was seen in a gurudwara early on Tuesday (May 23) morning.

Sources in Congress told India Today that since there is no official programme, Gandhi is apparently heading to Shimla where Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is there with her family.

But what was he doing travelling in a truck?

Many Twitter users and Congress workers said that Rahul Gandhi travelled in the truck to understand issues faced by the drivers who work all through the night.

Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi also tweeted the video and said that: “Only Rahul Gandhi can reach out to truck drivers to know their problems while riding a truck on NH1.”

Congress leader and party's spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said Gandhi wants to “listen to the voice of this nation and understand the problems and struggles faced by the people of the country.”

During his Bharat Jodo Yatra, Gandhi travelled 4,000 km across about a dozen states between September 2022 to January 2023. The foot march that started from Kanyakumari ended with Gandhi unfurling India’s flag at Srinagar’s Lal Chowk on Sunday.
