In the latest episode of Google's ongoing #BestPhonesForever campaign, the tech giant has once again turned to video ads to drum up excitement for its upcoming releases, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.

However, these ads come with a humorous twist, as Google takes playful jabs at Apple's iPhone 15 Pro Max.

What

  • Google's own creative team, called Google Creative Lab, came up with these funny ads.
  • They premiered them at a big event called Cannes Lions in June this year, where people in the creative industry show off their cool ideas.
  • During the event, Robert Wong, who's the VP of Google Creative Lab, spoke about it.

#BestPhonesForever: A series

  • This ongoing rivalry between the two tech titans has given rise to some entertaining marketing battles over the years.
  • This time, Google's marketing strategy paints a picture of camaraderie in the competitive world of smartphones.
  • The series of five films imagines a world where "the two best phones in the world" are not just competitors but friends, engaging in light-hearted banter about their distinct features and capabilities.

"No launch is bigger than our friendship," says the latest one.

  • Google and Apple are like the friendly rivals you see in sports.
  • They're always competing to be the best, not just in making phones and computer stuff, but also in who can come up with the coolest ads.
  • So, it's not just about the gadgets; they also playfully tease each other in their commercials.

Let's take a look at some of the cool and quirky ads.

In one of the ads, the iPhone playfully says something silly to show that it's not as cool as the Pixel phones, like when it talks about using its flashlight as a "night light."

But then, it hilariously runs out of battery, poking fun at the iPhone's battery life issues in older models.

In another ad called "Opening Up", the Pixel Fold shows off its super cool trick of unfolding, leaving the iPhone totally amazed.

The iPhone grudgingly admits that it's seen the Pixel's Magic Eraser and VP features and is secretly jealous. It's like a fun tech showdown between the two!

In one ad called "Plateau," the iPhone wishes it had cool features like the Pixel, such as Astrophotography mode, Call Assist, and 30x Zoom. It even says it's jealous of the Pixel's smartness!

The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are coming out on October 4, 2023. If you're in India and want to get one, you can pre-order them starting from October 5 on Flipkart.
