Kerala lesbian couple separated by parents, united by High Court, drops a viral bridal photoshoot

Adhila Nasarin and Fathima Noora, the lesbian couple who had quite a personal and legal struggle to get their relationship recognised, have now tied the knot as is evident from their Instagram photographs that bear the caption, 'Achievement unlocked: together forever'.

Aged 23 and 24, Nasarin and Noora first met during their schooling years in Saudi Arabia and have had aspirations to marry each other ever since. Facing disapproval from their parents who eventually seperated them, the two women went on to take the matter to Kerala High Court earlier this year. Even though same-sex marriages are still not legally recognised in the country, the court agreed to grant the couple the permission to live together with the couple's love making headlines.

Despite the photographs being promoted as a "wedding photoshoot" and the lovebirds decked up in bridal attire, the couple have clarified that they are not legally married but would surely want to tie the knot sometime in the future.

While these posts do offer some hope to queer populations in India, the legal battle is still not over with pleas for legalisation of same-sex marriages.
