Why is everyone dancing to Kala Chashma on Instagram Reels after all these years?

Back in 2016, we all practiced the hook steps of Kala Chashma day and night. Now once again the time has come to relearn all the dance moves but with some changes this time.

If you are addicted to scrolling Instagram reels, mindlessly, then you might have come across videos of people all across the world dancing to this Bollywood hit number these days.

What’s the trend? To follow the viral Kala Chashma trend, people usually first pretend that they are falling. Then instead of getting up, they choose to get down on their knees and twerk. This is then followed by the whole group breaking into a dance routine on the song.

How did it start? Quick Style, a hip-hop/urban dance group from Norway posted a dance video from a performance at a wedding. The video titled “Famous wedding show” which was shared 2 months ago went viral on Youtube with 67million views.

The video went viral on Instagram and TikTok. The group then later shared a few more dance videos on the song on social media which went viral too.

Then, the Internet did its magic. The dance routine became so popular that the saga of never-ending reels and TikTok videos continue to flood the internet till date.

Kala Chashma history: The song became extremely famous after its re-release in 2016 for Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra’s Baar Baar Dekho. The new version was made with contribution from various artists including Prem Hardeep, Amar Arshi (singer of the original version), Indeep Bakshi, Badshah and Neha Kakkar.

The original Kala Chashma by Amar Arshi was released in 1991. It was composed by Prem Hardeep and Kam Dhillon. The track was later recreated for the movie Baar Baar Dekho.
