10 new features Apple users might see in iOS 16

At its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple announced its new operating system iOS 16 for all Apple devices and now its beta 2 version has been rolled out for developers to test.

Currently being tested, here are 10 new features that Apple users might see in the new software update:

1. Apple has said that users will be allowed to categorise incoming SMS messages into 12 sub-categories. iMessage users will also now be allowed to edit a message they have sent or unsend a recent message.

2. With the collaboration option on iMessage, users will now easily be able to share notes, presentations, reminders, Safari tab groups as well see updates on shared projects in the message thread.

3. Users will now be able to personalise their lock screens with iOS 16. Favorite photos, custom font styles and a set of widgets on the screen will be some of the features users will be able to customise.

4.  iOS 16 will allow users to create multiple, individually-styled and easily-accessible lock screens. Notifications will either appear in an expanded list view, stacked view or hidden view at the bottom of the user’s lock screen.

5. Apple Mail users will be able to easily unsend an email, schedule messages to be sent later, add rich links on emails and be reminded by the app to add attachments to an email with iOS 16.

6. On photos, screenshots, Quick Look, Safari, iOS 16 will let you pick up a subject from the background of an image to bring into focus or isolate the subject by completely removing the background.

7. With iOS 16’s live caption update, Apple devices will now be able to convert audio into text in real time easily.

8. Face ID detection will now work in landscape mode and will be available on all iOS16 supported iPhone models.

9. FaceTime calls can easily be switched from iPhone to a user’s MacBook, iMac or iPad and vice-versa. After handing off the call, the bluetooth-connected audio device will seamlessly transition to the new device.

10. Some of the new South Asian languages added in the Apple keyboard for emoji search are Marathi, Tamil, Punjabi and Urdu.

It is not yet known when iOS16 will be rolled out for general use in India.
