If there is one place where you can always expect interesting updates, it is the metaverse. Every industry is upskilling here and companies are developing their technology to lead in the metaverse. We found some interesting updates which are expanding the existing offline industries into the metaverse and leading the way for innovation.

1. THE FIRST PRACTICING DENTISTS IN THE METAVERSE
The Dental Design Studio is a British dental group with 15 real-life locations across the UK and is the first to create a dentist's clinic in the metaverse using Sandbox. In the metaverse, users can create their own avatars and customize how they look, even their teeth. In the clinic, patients can sit in a dentist's chair, get a consultation, enjoy virtual treatments, talk to the staff, and watch dental hygiene videos. The dental chain can also deliver dental courses and lectures online and use the metaverse to attract international audiences.
Meanwhile, a company called Immersive Touch is using virtual reality to practice dental operations before they do the surgery in real life. This is what it looks like:
2. WANT TO PLAY KING-SIZED CHESS?
canVERSE has created a hyper-realistic chess experience to take a step towards development in the gaming metaverse. In the canVERSE metaverse, up to 64 players can be seamlessly connected for tournaments via desktop, AR & VR and players can also voice-chat in real-time. Though the games look realistic, the company aims to connect its customers with good-looking table-top games and create global communities. canVERSE has asked their community of chess, backgammon, and mah-jongg lovers to help them sculpt their developmental roadmap as they intend to bring more board games after chess. The company intends to bring more popular offline games into the metaverse to help more people transition into the online gaming world.
3. THE US MILITARY IN THE METAVERSE
The US Military applied for patents in April 2022 for 'synthetic and simulated extended reality (XR) training, testing and operations,' thus officially joining the metaverse. In 2020, US soldiers were prepared and trained for combat on virtual battlefields filled with virtual enemies wearing virtual reality headsets to make the training challenging and realistic.

But on May 10, 2022, two fighter pilots performed a high-altitude metaverse experiment a few thousand feet above the desert of California. In a pair of Berkut jets, they donned their custom AR headsets and connected to a system that overlaid a glowing image of a refueling aircraft flying alongside them in the sky. One of the pilots then performed a refueling maneuver with the virtual tanker while the other looked on. This was just a part of applications in defense for the metaverse.
4. THE FIRST CRYPTO SATELLITE IN SPACE
Recently, astronauts launched the first Cryptosat nanosatellite into orbit. Now, what is that? Cryptosat is a small satellite cube that is basically the size of a coffee mug. This satellite cube protects blockchains from being hacked.

Here's how: Since the cube stores blockchain data in it, to hack a platform that the cube protects, one has to go to outer space and physically open the module. But how do we know that the cube works fine? It communicates with people on Earth via radio frequencies.
The satellite was loaded on a rocket and the rocket was launched into space from Florida, thus marking the debut of blockchain technology in outer space.
5. ETSY LIKE PLATFORM IN METAVERSE RAISES RS 10 CRORE
Ayoken is a digital collectibles marketplace that connects creators to global audiences, just like Etsy. The platform has raised $1.4 million in pre-seed funding.
How come?

The platform for creatives will enable users to receive accelerated revenues through its offerings. It is the marketplace that will bridge the gap between fans and artists by featuring digital collectibles from global musicians, sports brands and influencers. Ayoken will use the pre-seed funding to expand its team and presence across countries, and also sign a number of exclusive deals with artists.
