Google Chrome 105 is here. What's new? How to install it?

Google Chrome’s new version is here. The Chrome 105 offers a set of new features and a few fixes that can improve your experience and provide better security.

Chrome launches a new version after every 4 weeks. The Chrome 105 does not bring changes that the users can easily notice. But these changes will help users in many ways.

The update is available for Windows, iOS as well as Linux. Most of the features offer new API capabilities or development assistance.

What’s new:

1. Picture-in-picture (PiP) on mobile: PiP allows you to continue watching videos in a floating window while you visit other websites or applications. Chrome on desktop already offers this feature from a long time with the help of a simple extension.

Now, the Chrome 105 offers this feature on android phones as well.

Picture-in-picture will now be available on android mobile

2. More secure: You might not be able to utilise this change but the latest version of Google Chrome includes 24 security fixes. Both external and internal security researchers have suggested these changes.

3. More features in Progressive Web Apps (PWA): PWAs offer fast web experience on desktop as well as mobile. You can install a website as an app for smooth working. The new Chrome 105 will let you add customizable controls in PWAs. It can add tools like search bar on the top.

How to update your Google Chrome browser: You can update the Google Chrome app on mobile just like other apps. For desktop, follow these steps:

  • Open Google Chrome browser and click on the three dots on the top right corner.
  • Now from the Menu click on Settings
  • From the menu on the left, click on About Chrome
  • You will then see the last version on your device
  • If not done, the update will start automatically
  • Once done, click on the re-launch button and you are done.
