How to get your Instagram profile verified? (Yes, it is very tough)

Instagram verifies only a real person, registered business or entity

Having a verified Instagram account is the biggest flex these days. But if you have tried getting your account verified, you know that Instagram is an absolute tough nut to crack when it comes to profile verification.

Many with a million followers do not have a blue tick, while others with a few hundred followers have one. This might have left you in a dilemma.

Instagram verification is based on many factors. Some of these are in your control, while others are not. Now, if you are also trying to take your gram-game up a notch with that blue badge, here is what you need:

There are a few requirements that you need to fulfil to get your account verified:

  1. Authentic: Instagram verifies only a real person, registered business or entity.
  2. Unique: According to the Instagram policy, one should represent a unique presence: either as a person or as a business entity. Only one account per person or business can be verified, with exceptions for language-specific accounts. Note: Instagram does not verify general interest accounts (like meme pages).
  3. Complete: You need to have a public account with a bio, profile photo; and you should have an active account. All profile details should be filled in properly.
  4. Notable: “Your account must represent a well-known, highly searched for person, brand or entity. We review accounts that are featured in multiple news sources, and we don't consider paid or sponsored media content as sources for review,” mentions Instagram.

How to request a verification badge:

  1. Log in to your Instagram account
  2. From the account section, go to settings
  3. Tap on 'Account', then go to 'Request verification'
  4. You will have to now fill in the required details
  5. Follow the instructions and press submit
You can request for verification from settings in your account

That’s it. You are done.

Now, the trickiest part.

“Even if your account is eligible for verification, submitting a request doesn't guarantee that your account will be verified,” mentions Instagram.

“Submitting multiple verified badge requests doesn't guarantee that your account will be verified and applying for a verified badge multiple times before receiving a decision will cancel your application,” it adds.

And maybe, maybe you have gotten the elusive Instagram verified badge (after a lot of effort), Instagram can take the blue tick away at any point.

Why?

If Instagram finds that your details are fake, it takes the blue tick away. It may also disable your account.
