Top 3 smartphones with bad cameras

These days smartphones have become pretty good. But the one thing that separates the good from the great is the camera. The best smartphones in the market have really good cameras. The camera is the central element that makes a phone well rounded, and appealing to a wide range of people.

That has been the secret behind the success of the iPhone, and if now the iPhone is starting to struggle, it is because the iPhone has lost its edge on the camera front. That’s why, I am taking a look at a couple of phones across price bands, which are seemingly good on paper, but lack a good camera. Here they are:

Moto X Force

I personally love the Moto X Force. It is an amazing phone, and I contemplated buying it, but for a phone that was launched for Rs 50,000, it had an atrocious camera. Its rear camera is a 21-megapixel one, which is great for marketing, but not of much use in reality.

It is a pity because the Moto X Force has it all — it's fast, it has simple software, and it is made out of ballistic kevlar and has a screen that is almost impossible to break. It’s the camera that sullies the experience of the phone.

2. Micromax Canvas 6

If you take a look at the feature list of the Canvas 6, it has been tailored to impress. It is the first Micromax phone with a full metal body. It has a speedy eight-core processor and 3GB RAM, 32GB storage and even a new unique services play.

But its camera is just about passé. For the same price, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Mi 4 and the even Yunicorn, which comes from Micromax’s own brand Yu, have a better camera. If you like to take a lot of photos on Instagram, Facebook or Snapchat, clearly this isn’t the camera phone you’re looking at.

Overall too, as a brand, I feel Micromax has to improve its cameras. It is an area the company is falling behind its competitors.

3. Lenovo K4 Note

The launch of Lenovo K4 Note made a lot of waves. It has good features, a nice display, supports a VR headset and some good audio focused hardware, but its camera isn’t anything to write home about.

It does a lot of things very well, but photography isn’t its forte. Well, to be clear, it doesn’t have the worst camera, but for its price devices from Yu, Xiaomi, CoolPad, Meizu and Samsung take better photos.
