As you can see, Shumukh costs more than an average home. Shumukh means “deserving the highest” in Arabic and is the most expensive fragrance yet known. It’s housed in a crystal bottle adorned with 38.55 carats of diamonds, giant pearls, two kgs of 18-karat gold, and more than five kilograms of pure silver. So, it’s fancy.

Unveiled at the Armani Ballroom of the Burj Khalifa, Shumukh is made after three years of research and 494 perfume trials! It contains ingredients like Indian agarwood, sandalwood, musk, Turkish rose, and others that are not publicly disclosed.

There is only one bottle currently in existence and its fragrance lasts for more than 12 hours if applied on the skin and for 20 days if applied on fabric. The perfume holds two Guinness World Records: One for the most diamonds on a bottle and the other for the tallest commercially available, remote-controlled bottle.

2. DKNY Golden Delicious-  $1 million (about Rs 7.7 crore)

DKNY Golden Delicious Million Dollar Fragrance Bottle is produced by DKNY and jewelry designer Martin Katz. This fragrance was created for the ‘Action Against Hunger’ charity association and was made using 1,500 hours of work by expert jewelers. The bottle features the Manhattan skyline with 2,909 precious stones, including 2,700 white diamonds, 183 yellow sapphires, a Cabochon sapphire from Sri Lanka, turquoise Paraiba tourmaline from Brazil, plus four rose-cut diamonds, and fifteen pink diamonds from Australia.

The fragrance seems to have a medley of Orange Flower Water, sparkling Mirabelle, signature Golden Delicious Apple and a sensual blend of musk, sandalwood, and teakwood.

3. Clive Christian No. 1 Imperial Majesty - $ 12,722 (about Rs 9,87,000)

Clive Christian created only 10 pieces in the entire world and called this “the perfume of his heart”. The limited-edition perfume oil has a creamy sandalwood base and is overlaid with musk, cloves, vanilla, and vetiver. It’s encased in a Baccarat bottle, sculpted from polished crystal, with an 18k gold collar and a five-carat white diamond.

4. Baccarat Les Larmes Sacree de Thebes - $ 6,800 (about Rs 5,27,0000)

Baccarat, a reputed crystal maker for nearly three centuries, released only three bottles of this perfume and designed his crystals in a beautiful pyramid shape to hold the perfume.

The name translates to “Sacred Tears of Thebes”, and is an Egyptian-themed perfume housed in a crystal bottle topped with an amethyst cap. The ingredients include a blend of amber, jasmine, rose, and Egyptian cassie, as well as myrrh and frankincense to evoke the smell of the Middle East.

5. Chanel Grand Extrait - $4,200 (about Rs 3,25,000)

The May rose and Grasse jasmine scents in this perfume were created in 1921 through a collaboration between Coco Chanel and perfumer Ernest Beaux. This was worn by celebs like Brad Pitt, Marilyn Monroe, and Nicole Kidman. As per Chanel, many who buy this perfume don't really wear the perfume but keep it on their shelf as a showpiece. What if one had to use it? Gabrielle Chanel’s advice was to apply it “wherever you would like to be kissed.”

Once the bottle is opened, the fragrance lasts for two to three years, which is not a long enough period to use the entire bottle. Though the bottle looks quite simple, it is encased in a hand-assembled, artisan-crafted case.
