Here is how you can make money by surfing the internet

We all spend way too much time on internet than we care to admit, and if we could get a penny for every time we opened the internet, we would be millionaires already.

Also, it is no longer surprising when we see ads for the things we just searched for online a few minutes ago. In fact, it is no more a surprise when we see ads for the things we were just talking about. And the longer time we spend online, the more money companies like Facebook and Google make. If you are an European, your data is shared at least 376 times per day, while if you are in the US, it is 747 times a day. A German's internet data is shared once every minute that they are online.

But here is the interesting question: What if you could not only control how much of your data is shared, but also make money from it? Get ready to be blown away by Surf.

WHAT IS SURF?

A Canadian firm Surf launched a browser extension called Surf, which rewards people for surfing the internet. The company is being beta tested in Canada and the US and sells your data directly to retail brands and bypasses Google. People can use Surf to limit what data they share by blocking information about certain websites they visit.

Badle me mujhe kya milega? Fair point. Fair points rather.
So you get points which you can save and then redeem for shopping gift cards and discounts.

Where can you redeem these saved points? For now, companies like Foot Locker, The Body Shop, Sephora, Lenovo, Crocs, and Dyson have signed up on the platform for users to redeem their points.

SO, WHAT DO THEY WANT FROM ME?

Every time you open a new app, we all have the same details to fill right. Surf does not ask for your name but takes your email addresses and telephone number instead (and promises to not share them). It also asks for your age, gender, and address, but that's not mandatory.

WHY IS SURF DOING THIS?

Surf wants to be the company that shares the most 'frequent flyer rewards of internet browsing'. The idea is for people to move away from a time when they had no control over who has their data and to give them full control of when and how much data they want to share. Also, Surf shares this data anonymously with brands since customers do not provide their names.

According to the company, its users have collectively made more than $1.2m ie. about Rs 9.33 crore.

We don't know when this will be available for monetization in India, but for now, you can get on the waitlist and create an account to earn some points.
