Women encounter numerous biases in the workplace, and within the film industry, female celebrities are often held to strict standards regarding their size and are expected to conform to certain stereotypes. Priyanka Chopra recently shared that 'she was left in tears' when someone commented that she doesn't have a typical body size.
This incident occurred shortly before the surprising announcement of celebrity stylist Law Roach's retirement. Although Priyanka didn't mention anyone by name in her statement, Law Roach, who has styled her for various red-carpet events and photo shoots previously, recently responded to her remarks.
Priyanka Chopra was recently on a panel at the 2023 South by Southwest Film Festival last week, in the US. This is when Chopra mentioned that she was recently told that 'she is not sample-sized'.
According to Priyanka, the comment actually hurt her self-esteem.
First things first - Law Roach was the one who reacted to Priyanka Chopra's comment despite the actress not taking any names.
The famous celebrity 'image architect', in a new interview with The Cut, said that his comments were taken out of context and asserted that he has never had such a conversation with the Citadel star. (but again, Priyanka never said it was him, but guessing Law Roach knew who she was talking about)
Roach went ahead and said that he never had this conversation with Priyanka.
And in the end, to balance things out, Roach praised Priyanka and her energy levels. He said, "It drives me crazy. She has a twinkle, she has a wiggle, and I love her, even as a person."
However, Priyanka's fans are not happy. Check out their reaction:
Law Roach is a highly esteemed fashion stylist and image architect who has made a significant impact in the fashion industry. He has worked with many notable celebrities such as Zendaya, Celine Dion, and Ariana Grande among others, and is widely recognised for his ability to create unique, sophisticated, and daring fashion looks that are both elegant and fashion-forward.
He announced his retirement on March 16 because Roach wanted to prioritise his mental health and wanted to leave 'politics, the lies and false narratives behind' from the fashion and entertainment industry.
