Netflix has come for Indian subscribers too now. It's bad news for all the relationships that were hanging by a thread with Netflix password-sharing. Netflix is cracking down on password-sharing in India. If you are an Indian Netflix subscriber sharing your password, then you will be receiving an email from the OTT platform about Netflix Household.
Starting today, we will be sending this email to members who are sharing Netflix outside their home in India.

Netflix Household
- Indians will also have to set up their "Netflix Household", that is with a TV and a home WiFi connection.
- Only those living under the same roof will be able to watch Netflix using the same account and password.
- Others, not living in the same house (even if you are family) will get the option of "transferring" their profiles to a new account, which will be paid for separately.
A Netflix account is for use by one household. Everyone living in that household can use Netflix wherever they are - at home, on the go, on holiday - and take advantage of new features like Transfer Profile and Manage Access and Devices.

- When Netflix brought anti-password-sharing to the US, it also introduced extra member profiles. It allowed those not living under the same roof to be connected to a primary household account.
- The extra member profiles bore an additional price, but $2 less than getting a whole new primary account.
- However, the Netflix India website currently doesn't have any information on adding an extra member.

How to remove profiles?
- Indian users should check who all are logged in to their accounts. Users can check by visiting the security and privacy settings of the Netflix account and selecting the 'Manage access and devices' option.
- Users are required to sign out of devices that are not part of a household and change their passwords. They can also ask the profile users to transfer their profiles.

How to set up a Netflix Household?
While Netflix has not made it clear, it seems like Netflix household is applicable to those on the Standard or Premium subscription option, which allows logging in to one Netflix account on more than one device at a time.
To set up your household:
- Sign in to Netflix from a TV that is connected to your home internet.
- From the Netflix homescreen on your TV, press left on your remote to open the menu.
- Select Get Help > Manage Netflix Household.
- Select Confirm Netflix Household or Update My Netflix Household.
- Select Send Email or Send Text. A verification link will be sent to the account email address or phone number.
- Select Yes, This Was Me in the email, or tap the link in the text message, then Confirm Netflix Household or Update Netflix Household to continue.
- You will see a confirmation on your TV screen and receive a confirmation email. Select Continue to Netflix to start watching.
In case you don't have a TV or don't watch Netflix on a TV then you don't need to set up a Netflix Household.
Netflix has already implemented its anti-password-sharing policy in over 100 countries including the US, UK, Singapore, and Germany.
According to reports, Netflix had added 5.9 million new subscribers in the last three months following the crackdown on password sharing. The growth in subscribers has been reportedly three times more than what analysts expected. And according to Netflix, so far, over 100 million households are actively participating in password sharing.
