There are foods and then there are superfoods. While foods help you go about your day-to-day business, extraordinary times call for immunity-boosting superfoods. One such is Matcha.

Matcha, what?

Matcha is a type of ground green tea that has been doing rounds as more than just a substitute for coffee. Matcha has a plant-based compound — epigallocatechin gallate (or EGCG for short) — that builds immunity against viruses and bacteria. Need more convincing? Dieticians go to the extent of saying that matcha has more than a hundred times the amount of antioxidants as compared to regular green tea — way more antioxidants than blueberries, walnuts or even Popeye’s favourite, spinach.

Why is it a superfood? Because it has vitamins A, B, C (known for immune-boosting properties), E and K.

Doctors say that it helps with the production of T-cells in the body that help us fight inflammation. Who wouldn’t want a drink that detoxifies, removes toxins and heavy metals from our bodies, in addition to boosting immunity?

Where can you find this miraculous powder? In the supermarkets — real and virtual. We recommend you order it online because your safety is in staying at home.

Brew it with some hot water and sip away! No milk? Preferably not. Doctors and dieticians recommend consuming matcha without milk.

What is stopping you from grabbing the magical elixir and sipping away?
