Why the new Batman v Superman trailer is disappointing

The internet is going gaga over the latest trailer of the movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice directed by Zack Snyder, but I am not. In fact, I am saddened after watching it. Watch it here before reading ahead:

I am not someone who has the voice to contest master director Christopher Nolan's vision and Snyder's work. Many loved the new trailer and I agree it is not bad. But all I say is it could have been better, much better.

The trailer opens with Clark Kent (Superman) introducing himself to Bruce Wayne (Batman) and questioning him about the bat vigilante in Gotham. What Snyder misses is the power to create an aura of mysteriousness Nolan can. I've always felt this, be it with Snyder's 300 or Man of Steel.

Maybe it is a different school of film-making: the Nolan school. Hans Zimmer's impeccable soundtrack has something to do with it too, and that, I'm sure, is something Snyder missed.

Two punch dialogues in the first scene, where Wayne says "Gotham and I have a bad history with freaks dressed like clowns", and the newly introduced Lex Luthor telling Wayne he shouldn't pick a fight with Kent sure brought a smile on my face, but failed to bring the kind of excitement, and that sense of fear and keenness Nolan brought out while introducing Bane in the trailer. I couldn't see even one sequence of cinematic brilliance, like the one below (gif attached) in the new trailer.

The Comic-Con trailer was so much better, it could intrigue me with dialogues like "That's how it starts... the rage that turns good man... cruel" showing Ben Affleck staring at the bat suite. It successfully baffled viewers and made them doubt who is playing the antagonist - Son of Krypton Superman or Gotham's saviour Batman - more so when we see Kent's mother telling him, "People hate what they don't understand Clark, be their hero, be their angel, be their monument, be anything they need you to be... or be NONE OF IT!"

The Comic-Con trailer that ended with Batman and Superman staring at each other's eyes left me craving for more, but not this new one where there is so much happening - Batman and Superman fighting each other, Joker coming and going, I see what is referred to as the world engine (which was destroyed in Man of Steel), psycho Luther who I believe resurrects dead General Zod possibly as a monster, and Wonder Woman joining Batman and Superman against the newly created monster - that it is too much, isn't it?

I loved Snyder's Man of Steel and the way it was treated giving enough time to show Superman's struggle to find himself. I'm sure Snyder will be able to keep people entertained, I fear Affleck's Batman suffering as a character before Cavill's Superman and even Jesse Eisenberg's Luther. Also, I miss seeing Joseph Gordon Levitt and of course, my Batman forever - Christian Bale.

The movie is scheduled to release on March 23, 2016. Let's wait and watch!
