Sad to see Bigg Boss 10's Priyanka Jagga being slut-shamed for her audition video

The first contestant to have been evicted out of the Bigg Boss 10 house was Priyanka Jagga. Yes, this commoner from the Indiawale team was the perfect Bigg Boss contestant. She was mean, whiney, fought with everyone and lived in a sea of drama. If it were up to me, I’d have her win the show, because she is all that this show stands for: louder-than-life drama.

But as much as I hate Priyanka Jagga as a contestant on the show (which is precisely as much as I hate the show itself), I do agree that the woman is fierce and not to be messed with. She doesn’t take shit from anyone and she doesn’t back away from a fight. She may be vile at times, but she is also strong.

Maybe it’s the effect of reality TV, but people tend only to see the glaring, loud and often bad aspects of everyone’s personality. Because Priyanka’s, now viral, audition tape shows something else altogether. She seems more chilled out, she looks happy and she looks nothing like what she would become inside the house.

Yes, she has a funny accent and yes, she sometimes looks like she has no idea what she is talking about, but she looks like a decent human being. Something people on YouTube comments are clearly not being able to see at all.

The comments section in YouTube videos is known to be cancerous - as is likely with any and every internet forum. They are mean, vile, lack compassion and empathy - basically what Priyanka became during her one week in the show. But one has to realise that Bigg Boss is a reality show where behaviour like this is encouraged and often scripted. Just because her on-screen person is less than likeable, doesn't mean that she really is that person. It's like hating actor Jack Gleeson for his portrayal of Joffery Baratheon on Game of Thrones.

But of course, people are people. Priyanka's audition tapes on YouTube are full of comments that are slut-shaming her, making off-coloured personal remarks on her marriage and children and even being elitist about her accented English. It's a little funny when you read comment about her supposedly bad English written in bad English. I guess it is too much to expect that commentators on YouTube would appreciate the irony. 

Here's hoping Priyanka makes it back to the house (wild card or something) and all those haters get to realise, that at the end of the day, she's the one taking it all with her.
