10 best dressed women who stole the show at Golden Globes 2016

You know it's going to be good year in fashion when the first big red carpet event of the year, the Golden Globe Awards puts up a fantastic show. The 73rd Golden Globe Awards had some of the biggest names in American film and television turn up in their designer best and the more often than not, the outcome was quite good.

Sticking to more classic styles, the women on the red carpet were beaming with style. Yes, some of them played it safe but isn't that better than an experimentation gone horribly wrong? They were elegant (even Lady Gaga for a change) and looked like they were having fun. There's nothing like gorgeous women wearing what they like and having fun with it, right?

Here's our pick of the ten best dressed women at this year's Golden Globe Awards in no particular order.

Kate Hudson

This nude sparkling outfit is the perfect example of how you can show your sculpted body without looking over-the-top. Kate's Michael Kors gown along complete with the neck detailing was majorly impressive and stood out amidst the colour explosion on this year's red carpet.

Jennifer Lopez

There's little to get wrong with a body like that, yes but Jennifer Lopez further ups her game in her Giambattista Valli look. From the colour which is so trendy to the fit and silhouette, everything is perfect. And JLo's hairdo only adds to the charm.

Cate Blanchett

Not the most pleasing look in the first go, Cate's Givenchy dress is something that grows on you with time. The fact that the talented actor carries it off so well also adds to the allure. The gentle, free flowing vibe of the look is what gets us the most.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

One of the best shades to sparkle in, Rosie's custom made gold Saint Laurent dress was both understated yet extremely glamorous. The shimmery feel was further enhanced by the dress's relaxed fit that didn't cling onto the body.

Jennifer Lawrence

Definitely the best dress on the red carpet this year, Jennifer's blazing red Dior outfit was a show stealer from the word go. While you may choose to like or not like her choker, there's no denying she looked stunning.

Olivia Wilde

Marsala is always a great shade for the red carpet and Olivia makes no mistake in her Michael Kors Collection gown with a plunging neckline. Also, major brownie points for her accessories- the neckpiece and clutch are both fantastically paired.

Kate Bosworth

That Dolce and Gabbana gown is so beautiful, it'll take a while to get over it. Once you do, make sure to note how effortlessly is Kate pulling it off keeping her hairdo and jewellery minimal. Lovely!

Katy Perry

When your outfit is that fitted, it's tough to make it look elegant. Therefore, full marks to Katy for pulling off her risqué Prada gown with élan. The heavily plunging neckline may have distracted everyone but the outfit deserves a look for the lovely colour if nothing else.

Taraji P Henson

For that boxy clutch alone, Taraji deserves applause. Add to that her white Stella McCartney gown that adorned her fit frame, showing off her toned, taut arms. White is a colour avoided by many, but there's no denying its everlasting classic appeal.

Julianne Moore

Wearing a shimmering Tom Ford dress, last year's winner Julianne was a picture of elegance and shine. Her outfit flattered her body, went wonderfully well with her skin and was easy on the eyes.
