Shahid Kapoor can't wait to be a dad it seems

Shahid Kapoor can't wait to be a first-time dad! "I am really excited. I have a big release this year," Shahid Kapoor joked when I met him earlier this week.

While Baby Kapoor's due date is not known, family members say Mira and Shahid are expecting their first bundle of joy this September.

The parents-to-be already preparing to welcome the latest addition to their family. While Mira has taken up the responsibility of getting the nursery ready, Shahid is preparing with impending fatherhood with the help of an app.

"Mira downloaded this app on my phone," Shahid tells me as he scrolls on his IPhone to show me the app. "It's called Baby Center and keeps updating as the pregnancy progresses. It's pretty cool."

On the work front, Shahid is currently in the middle of promoting the hard-hitting drama Udta Punjab. He has wrapped by shooting for Vishal Bharadwaj's period saga Rangoon with Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut.

While he waits for Rangoon to release early next year, Shahid is going to take time off to spend time with Mira and the baby.

"I am talking time off but I don't know for how long. I haven't signed anything after Rangoon so who knows how long my paternity leave will be for," he says, with a laugh. 

The couple has been going back-and-forth picking names for the baby. "Picking names is the most difficult thing to do! There is just no consensus," he jokes.

The one thing Shahid is sure of, though, is that he is going to be a hands-on dad. Diaper-duty and all. "I am going to be very hands-on. I was 15 when my younger brother (Ishaan) was born. So, I've done the diaper, feeding, bathing thing for him. I am very experienced." Good to know!

Coldplay's Bollywood fans

Sonam Kapoor didn't think twice before doing a blink-and-you-miss it appearance in a recent music video for Coldplay; while Dia Mirza and husband Sahil Sangha caught Chris Martin and the band in concert in Barcelona, Spain last weekend. Another Chris Martin fan - Diana Penty is going to watch the band perform at the Wembley Stadium in mid-June.

"I have seen them live in the US but I am told they are something else on their home ground at Wembley." The band is on a three-continent tour after the release of their seventh album A Head Full of Dreams. 

Diana makes it a point to catch musical acts every time she travels. The Cocktail actress picks U2's 360-degree tour at Rose Bowl, California as the best she's ever attended.

"The Back-Eyed Peas opened for them so it was two concerts for the price of one. And, then they got Slash to join them for Sweet Child O' Me. It was one surprise after another." Next on her wish list is to watched Bruce Springsteen live.

Off-camera shenanigans

The decade's biggest scandal to rock Bollywood seems to have receded from the public eye but it is nowhere close to being over. At least for the superstar involved. He is in no mood to let bygones be bygones. Every time he hears of a contemporary publically supporting his ex-turned-sworn-foe, he calls them to explain his side of the story.

A leading actress, who is married to an industry heavyweight, was surprised when she was told that the superstar was trying to get in touch with her. Considering they have never worked together or interacted much socially, she wondered what he wanted to talk about.

When they finally connected, after some small talk he immediately launched into a rant. He couldn't understand who she could support someone who had "how she ruined his life".  

The actress couldn't believe that the A-lister had stooped so low. After politely listening to him, she ended the call by telling him she would make up her own mind about the affair. Similar calls have also been made to two other actresses who have worked with him in the past. Someone should tell him to let sleeping dogs lie.
