Sucker Video: I am a ‘sucker’ for Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas. And Joe Jonas. And Sophie Turner

When the three Jonas Brothers dropped their latest video — Sucker — featuring, of course, their three brides, a wave of criticism hit social media.

Most of which originated in India.

Soon after, there were spoof videos doing the rounds — with one calling them Hum Saath Saath Hain-part two to another just unable to take the outrageous costumes, especially on our very own Priyanka Chopra.

My question is, have you seen the video? And...you still don’t like it?

Hmm...we need to talk.

Let’s start where all talks about music videos should actually start — the music.

Sucker is catchy AF. And if you’re denying that, well, you’re in denial. Sure, it gave me solid Adam Lavine and Maroon 5 vibes, but if Joe and Nick Jonas are copying Adam (the God) Lavine, how can you blame them? He is just the best, isn’t he?

The beats grow on you — just like Priyanka and Nick’s offbeat love story did. The lyrics have definite recall value. And a totally hummable chorus.

What else do you actually look for in a pop song?

Then, the video. 'Outrageous' is the word!

Yes, it is OTT. Lollipop-sucking women in bathtubs, objectified like always would have been familiar — but add the Jonas Brothers in the mix, objectified similarly, and suddenly, it’s too much to handle, right?

I don’t get it.

Witness Sophie Turner, or Sansa Stark for Game Of Thrones worshipers, in a new light — looking like a popsicle and a rainbow had a baby, that now identifies as a unicorn.

A stark contrast (get the Stark reference?) to her GoT avatar — sombre and dark. What’s not to like?

Priyanka looks a part of that outrageous universe created in the scope of the video. The puffy, feathered gowns, the gravity-defying headgear, the Hollywood scarf, the bodacious cleavage — the only reason why some of us find it cringe-worthy, even offended by it, is because even today we fail to see PeeCee as a global icon — and want to think of her as the 'desi' girl. And thereby, judging her by our typical 'desi' standards — what is she wearing, what’s with her hair, what was she thinking?

Trolling is not criticism. It’s just a giant pain in a rather important body part.

There is no reason at all to compare the Jonas Brothers and their girls with Hum Saath Saath Hain when Keeping Up With The Kardashians is already a reality. What we’re looking at is an opportunity for the next big thing in television — a real-life Friends who are family, young, reckless and oh-so in love, there is legit international representation with a blonde, a brunette and a brown woman — and most importantly, their combined body of work is more defined than Kim Kardashian’s contour lines.

Perhaps. a possible return of the Married To Jonas!

ABC, HBO, Netflix, are you listening?

So, what sucks about Sucker

Nick Jonas piggybacking on an actual pig may be both adorably funny and satirically woke, but PETA might have a problem with that.

The final Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham-esque portrait was unnecessary. Even in this OTT make-belief universe.

India is obsessed with celebrity kids, so maybe next time, consider including Valentina and Alena (Kevin and Danielle's daughters) and Siena (Kevin's niece) in the video too.

Also, let's have PeeCee sing already!
