Why Kamal Haasan is banking big on Vishwaroopam 2

Be it 'Superstar' Rajinikanth or 'Ulaganayagan' (universal actor) Kamal Haasan, the excitement amongst their fans ahead of their films is immense.

This time Vishwaroopam 2, a Kamal Haasan release after a gap of three years with Thoonga Vanam in 2015 being his last, has given more reasons for the actor's fans to rejoice — this will be the first release after the star's political entry.

The state of Tamil Nadu has been witnessing drastic changes on the political front with the latest being both Rajini and Kamal Haasan's entry. Their message has been the same — bring about a corruption-free society.

The two actors, just like their films, have a different approach in their political moves as well.

With Haasan taking up the cause of the Dravidian identity and Rajini taking the spiritual route, the one thing common between them is their popularity on the 70mm screens.

On June 7 with Kaala, Rajinikanth got an opportunity to get a sense of the audience's pulse and he sure wasn't disappointed with the box office turnover — his acting and the story line of the film both got a welcome reception across the state.

On August 10, Kamal Haasan will be waiting with a pounding heart in anticipation of the response to his film.

Kamal Hassan has made it clear that Vishwaroopam 2 will be the sequel to the 2013 film Vishwaroopam and will be an action spy thriller. While Vishwaroopam was set in the US and spoke about attempted terrorist attacks, the second part will mainly be set in India.

Vishwaroopam 2, which was initially slated for release in 2013, was delayed due to some financial issues, and now Haasan is co-producing and directing the film. He has also penned the movie's story line.

While one tends to compare Rajini and Kamal in every venture the two stars undertake, Kaala and Vishwaroopam 2 are very different films with one common message — social justice.

While Kaala was loaded with political dialogues and can even be seen as a platform for launching Neta Rajini, Vishwaroopam 2 will most likely not be able to incorporate such dialogues targeted at the masses.

One, the concept of the film would not look good with a politically charged film; two, the concept and a major chunk of the shoot for Vishwaroopam 2 was completed along with part one itself. While Shankar directed

Kamal's Indian 2 (again a sequel to Indian, where he played a freedom fighter battling against modern day corruption) will be the Ulaganayagan's next looks like Rajini has already scored one by delivering a people's movie.

As Kaala continues to be applauded for its concept and execution by many, the movie is seen as a Pa Ranjith film.

So, will Vishwaroopam 2 be seen as Haasan's film or his idea of politics is something we will have to wait and watch, but Kamal on his part has already said that his films will reflect a huge part of his conviction, ideology and thoughts.
