Anand Mahindra wants to invest in startup Tvasta. What do they do?

The trend of pitching your business ideas to investors is quite common for entrepreneurs. As Shark Tank catches up with Indian entrepreneurs and inspires entrepreneurs to dream big (and gives birth to some hilarious memes), would it not be amusing if investors approach you by themselves?

Tvasta is one such company who got a public enquiry on Twitter asking if there was space for an investor to invest in them.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Anand Mahindra shared a tweet today about how he had been following the developments of 3D printed homes and was curious to know if there was 'any room' for him to join in and invest in a venture called Tvasta.

Though Tvasta has not replied to Anand Mahindra yet, IIT Madras was proud to celebrate this opportunity as it would be an immense learning experience for the team to learn from Mahindra himself and have him as an investor.

WHAT DOES TVASTA DO?

Remember Howard and Rajesh from Big Bang Theory, who wanted to make mini prototypes of their own selves and wanted to spend so much money? They built a successful prototype of their self using a 3D printer, and well, it turned out to be pretty useless.

Watch this if you haven't:

Tvasta has found a better way of using 3D printers. Built by IIT Madras alumni, Tvasta is a startup founded by Adithya, Vidyashankar and Parivarthan, according to its website. They use 3D printing technology to build sustainable and livable homes at a fraction of the cost and in - hold my brick - just 5 days!

The 3D printing startup was recognised by the government as the National Startup Awards 2021 winner in the Industry 4.0 sector, under the 3D printing category.

Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had talked about this in his Mann Ki Baat episode in July 2021 when he said, “Friends, when we are discussing technology, I want to point out another interesting subject. You must have recently read that a startup by an IIT Madras alumni has built a 3D printed house. Making a house through 3D printing? How was it possible?”

HOW DOES IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

Tvasta leverages 3D printing to build homes faster, sustainably, and at an economical price - all of which is great news for Indians and customers across the globe. Tvasta focuses on reducing the building time, which is essential as most construction works take long periods of time to be completed.

It also focusses on zero-waste construction and optimised production, thus reducing the environmental impact of its product.

A 3D printer can produce a 2,000 sq ft home in less than a week, which is 1/8th of the total time spent today in conventionally constructing the same. The technology creates 1/3rd of the waste generated using conventional building methods.

A printer can create a home in 5 days, within a budget of Rs 5-5.5 lakh, with minimal impact on the environment.

Startups like these need to be supported, and to be spotted by Anand Mahindra is just an amazing story of how the right products will also find the perfect buyers.

Isn't this an amazing innovation?
