Ranbir Kapoor's Animal and Vicky Kaushal's Sam Bahadur are facing off at the box office today, December 1. The current buzz on social media and at the box office leans towards the former.

Animal vs Sam Bahadur

  • Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur directed by Meghna Gulzar are currently competing at the theatres.
  • The two movies have been two of the highly anticipated Bollywood releases of 2023, and the social media and box office buzz justifies the hype accurately.
  • Irrespective of the competition, the two stories are far opposite of each other.
  • Animal is a violent father-son relationship set in a fictional narrative.

  • On the other hand, Sam Bahadur narrates the true story and life of Sam Manekshaw, India's first Field Marshal.
  • Exactly a year after the release date of Sam Bahadur was announced, the creators of Animal surprisingly selected the same date for their film, sparking widespread curiosity.

Box-office clash

  • Animal is creating waves at the box office, having amassed Rs 17.1 crore through first-day advance bookings itself.
  • PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis, major cinema chains, witnessed the fifth-highest advance booking sales for a Hindi film, selling 4.5 lakh tickets on day one, as per industry tracker site Sacnilk
  • In contrast, Sam Bahadur secured 1,03,192 advance bookings, accumulating Rs 3.05 crore.
  • A promising Rs 6 crore net collection is predicted for Sam Bahadur on its debut day in India.

The social media battle

  • Social media reviews lean heavily in favour of Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor.
  • The credit for this tilt goes to the film's vibrant and impactful action sequences, which have been a consistent attraction for the Indian audience.
  • People are praising Vicky Kaushal's portrayal of Sam Mankeshaw in Sam Bahadur and every review that has come out so far, has hailed  him as the driving factor of the film.
  • Some have even called the movie a bit too crowded and pacey, which has caused problems in the tone of the movie to set in properly.
