One of the most highly-anticipated movies of the year, "Jawan," directed by Atlee and starring the iconic Shah Rukh Khan, finally hit theaters on September 7 (Thursday) and enjoyed a blockbuster first day at the box office, raking in a whopping Rs 75 crore in India.

Shah Rukh Khan's film, Jawan, made its global debut on Thursday, September 7, with an impressive box office opening, as is customary for any Shah Rukh Khan movie. The movie undeniably drew massive crowds to theaters, even with early showtimes that extended until 5:30 am.

Early estimates indicate that this Atlee-directed film, featuring Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi alongside SRK, has the potential to shatter records and become Bollywood's all-time highest grosser.

According to data from the trade portal Sacnilk, 'Jawan' reluctantly secured a whopping Rs 75 crore on its opening day, encompassing all languages in the domestic market. Furthermore, the Hindi version of the film recorded a substantial occupancy rate of 58.67 percent, which is significantly high.

Occupancy rates nationwide

Audiences flocked to theaters in large numbers to catch Shah Rukh's new thriller, resulting in sky-high occupancy rates across the country.

In early showings, the Hindi version began with a 46% initial occupancy, which later rose to 58.67%.

  • On the movie's premiere day, the morning screening had a 43% seat occupancy, with the NCR area documenting a 42% seat fill rate.
  • Kolkata led the nation in morning show turnout with a remarkable 66% occupancy.
  • Hyderabad closely followed with a 62% attendance rate.

Big theaters are small for Jawan

Some of the biggest theatre chains have recorded gigantic figures on the first day of Jawan. The numbers clearly show that Jawan has gone beyond the opening day numbers of some of the biggest releases in recent Bollywood. 

  • PVR Inox: Rs 24 cr
  • Cinepolis: Rs 5.96 cr
  • MovieMax: Rs 1.02 cr

This brings a total amount of  Rs 29.96 cr in the bags of Jawan through these theatre chains. 

The movie has scored money figures which is beyond certain big Bollywood releases on their opening day, which even includes SRK’s Pathaan.

  • Pathaan: Rs 27.02 cr
  • KGF2 (Hindi): Rs 22.15 cr
  • War: Rs 19.67 cr
