Why on earth is Sonam Kapoor's husband Anand Ahuja suing a YouTuber with 7k followers?

It looks like someone does not know how to take a joke, despite being in the public eye for the longest time. Yes, we are talking about Sonam Kapoor and her husband, Anand Ahuja, who are making headlines and causing a stir on social media. It's not because of Sonam's latest fashion statement or a new movie, but because of an unbelievable controversy.

What

It all started 5 months ago, when a YouTuber and content creator who goes by the username @Raginyy made a video titled, "Soham Kapoor's IGNORANT MAD LAD statements are WILDDD!!".

  • Right at the beginning of the video, the YouTuber gave a warning that the statements made by Sonam Kapoor are something that "we all make", but "there are no cameras to record them".
  • However, throughout the video, which was around 12 minutes long, Raginyy made comments about Sonam Kapoor and 'how privileged she is' and ended up roasting the actress a lot (a lot).

Here's the video:

But

Things took a pretty ugly turn for Raginyy when she was served with a legal notice by Anand Ahuja over the video, according to the creator.

  • Raginyy took her Instagram to share the legal notice, stating that they wanted her to "remove the video".

Here are some snippets from the notice:

"We, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Anand Ahuja are fashion entrepreneurs, public figures and licensee distributors of various global brands in India such as Veg Non Veg, Bhaane and strategic partners for Nike stores, Rise in Cargo and Converse shoes across the Indian subcontinent..."
- Excerpts from the legal notice

It further says that they have tasked an Online Reputation Management (ORM) solution provider "to undertake all activities & actions over the Internet to engage and neutralize fake profiles created in the names of our family members, illegal rumours, misquote in interviews, photos, comments personal information uploaded on social media, defamatory comments, trolls, concocted stories, gossips, negative news and negative review about our fashion brands and businesses that would be potential targets for sabotage across the Internet".

What's new

Yesterday, Raginyy made a YouTube video in response to the notice, in which she doesn't look apologetic nor in any mood to remove that video.

  • She has also uploaded a Reel on Instagram, with the caption, "Thousands of hate accounts on Insta, hundreds of borderline cyber bullying roasts on YouTube, hundreds of subreddit posts dedicated to saying the most unhinged things about you and a video with 4k views is what you wanna take down?"
  • She further says that she does not have the "resources to fight". (BTW, even though the video previously had just 4k views, after the feud it has reached 35k+ views)

However, Sonam and husband Anand have yet to comment on the video or the notice.

How is social media reacting to it?

On social media, it looks like people are supporting Raginyy, while shaming Sonam for sending a legal notice to a small content creator. Here are some of the comments:

Which side are you on?
