India's previous best performance was in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta & Palembang, Indonesia, where they won a total of 70 medals (16 gold, 23 silver, and 31 bronze).
What makes this achievement even more promising is that India's campaign at the Asian Games is far from over, with the country's top bet, Neeraj Chopra, scheduled to compete later today (October 4)
India currently occupies the fourth spot on the medals leaderboard, and a significant portion of the credit goes to their outstanding performance in shooting, where they have secured a total of 22 medals (7 gold, 9 silver, and 6 bronze).
On October 4, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Pravin Ojas Deotale set a new record for India by winning gold in the Compound Archery Mixed Team event during the first half of the day, defeating their opponents from South Korea.
