Making fun of Donald Trump’s tweets is so passé that Twitteratis, who are almost immune to the lies of the US president, launched a new line of humour, taking a leaf out of Trump’s “got a call from the Time magazine”.
On Friday, Trump tweeted that he got a call from the Time magazine and the caller confided in him that he might become the “Person of the Year”. But Trump, being Trump, “took a pass” and thanked them anyway.
Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named “Man (Person) of the Year,” like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!

Twitter took no time to roast him. But for Time, it was hard to come to terms with what Trump is capable of. Only after it could collect itself from Trump's open modesty, the magazine clarified nothing like that actually happened. The choice will be unveiled only on December 6. Before that, no one from the magazine will comment on any “probable choice”.
The President is incorrect about how we choose Person of the Year. TIME does not comment on our choice until publication, which is December 6.

You were wondering what was lost. Yes, touch with reality.

Even Johnny Depp had to make an appearance.

Then this conspiracy theory!

Meanwhile, Allan Murray, chief content officer of the Time, exclaimed that there was not a speck of truth in the claim.
Amazing. Not a speck of truth here—Trump tweets he 'took a pass' at being named TIME's person of the year https://t.co/D6SJgyTpcY
— Alan Murray (@alansmurray) November 25, 2017
While we wonder what made Allan Murray hopeful that there will be some amount of truth, Centre for American Progress president Neera Tandon had these concerns.
Can you even take a pass? Did they ask Hitler and he just didn't decline? https://t.co/uyyfltmRmX

In another news, Donald Trump is far from making to the popularity ranking as he is on the ninth position. So far, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman tops the chart with 14 per cent votes, followed by #MeToo with six per cent votes. Last year, the Time named Trump its "Person of the Year". Though Trump had once claimed to have the highest number of Time cover appearances, according to Time’s own count, he has now appeared on its cover 14 times.
No matter who is right on that, Twitter can’t have enough of Trump. Never. And especially after Richard Stengel, an ex-editor of the Time tweeted to explain to Trump that “probably” indicated that he was not the selected one.
Hate to tell you but that PROBABLY means you’re NOT Person of the Year. They just wanted a photo shoot. But I’m sure you still have that fake TIME cover somewhere in storage. https://t.co/HkW1XkKxXK
— Richard Stengel (@stengel) November 24, 2017
And then he offered this statistics.
Mr. President, just to clarify things, I wanted to offer a few statistics. Number of times you were Person of the Year during the 7 years I was editor of Time: 0. Number of times you were on the cover: 0. Number of times you made the Time 100 influentials list: 0. Thanks anyway!

If Trump can get a call from the Time, then why can’t Tennis champion Andy Murray get one from the BBC and actor Julia Louis-Dreyfuss from The New York Times? Well, they did.
Bbc just called to say I was PROBABLY going to be named sports personality of the year but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!
— Andy Murray (@andy_murray) November 24, 2017
.@nytimes just called to say I was PROBABLY going to be named comedienne of the year but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway! @andy_murray

Even back home, J&K former chief minister Omar Abdullah claimed to have received a call from the BJP for the president's post. But, it was "probably no good".
The BJP just called to say I was PROBABLY going to be named next President of India but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway! https://t.co/JYwdEZwZL3

There were many.

Clap for this guy as he cared to look for a pattern in Trump's obsession with the Time.
He gets worked up over Time Magazine's Man of the Year Award almost every year. Like clockwork. pic.twitter.com/27TnDTguAD

But then nobody can beat comedian Billy Eichner's extreme.
Time Magazine called me a few weeks ago too. This led to us texting and then, of course, sexting. We hooked up a few times, which was fun. But, ultimately, it didn't seem like an ideal match. It's too bad though because Time Magazine is really hot. Oh well. Thanks anyway!
