Eats, shoots & leaves: Tree Obama planted is not dead, it just looks dead?

A tree sapling planted by US President Barack Obama at the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat in New Delhi during his recent visit to India is apparently on the verge of "dying", probably due to lack of proper care. A photograph of the site shows the sapling in a dilapidated state, devoid of any leaves.

The Peepal sapling, planted by the US President Barack Obama, seems to be wilting.

"It's a seasonal phenomenon," BC Katiyar, a top regional government horticulturist, told journalists on Thursday. "It will send out shoots within the next ten days."

The US president's visit, though a grand affair, ended on a sour note for Indians as he left reminding everyone the importance of religious intolerance and freedom. Many felt that he was giving an indirect lecture to Prime Minister Modi to control his fellow Sakshi Maharajs and Sanghis.

What this has to do with the poor sapling planted in Raj Ghat is anybody's guess. Or not.
