When Mark Zuckerberg met Congress, he got rich memes for easy answers

Mark Zuckerberg, the 33-year-old billionaire CEO of Facebook, has had a tough night. He had to testify in front of a joint session of Senate Judiciary Committee and the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation to address myriad allegations on the social media website and how it’s being run.

After all, Facebook has been involved in a lot of murky stuff — private data of millions being leaked to a pro-Trump organisation that may have influenced the 2016 presidential elections in the US, free flow of fake news and turning into a pulpit for hate speech that led to and is still leading to the extermination of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

Zuckerberg, who is no fan of public speaking, was obviously under a whole lot of pressure, even without all the tough questions he would have to answer. And he certainly looked nervous and shaken during the testimony that was covered by news channels and websites across the globe.

While the testimony and the answers are of massive importance, people on social media could not help but meme one of the biggest power-brokers in the world — who appeared nothing more than a child caught cheating by his school teacher and keeps repeating the word “sorry”.

Some went after his looks — not just his nervous demeanour, but also his face, his hair and his clothes. And while it is not okay to be mean about any of those things, one has to remember that this man may potentially be the reason why the US is stuck with Donald Trump and their president.

Others had a great time taking digs at those questioning Zuckerberg; they all looked ancient after all.

There’s also no denying that Nervous Zuck/Ashen-faced Zuck is also a potential hot meme.

Wait, is Zuckerberg a robot?

Even Desi Twitter users managed to have some fun with the Zuck.

A second hearing before the House Committee on Energy and Commerce is scheduled for tonight. Needless to say, it too promises to be a treasure trove of memes.
