A 1.2 billion dollar lottery has no winners yet. What happens next?
If you like lotteries and believe in your luck, Powerball might be the right choice for you. Today (November, 2) in America one lucky (well, extremely lucky) person will be in for a very big surprise when the numbers will be drawn again, and the winner will be taking home a whopping 1.2 billion dollars.

What is the Powerball lottery?
With the highest prize of at least 1.5 billion dollars, Powerball is an interstate lottery system played in the 45 American states, the district of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
The game starts off with a value of 40 million dollars and every time when there is no winner, the value increases by 10 million dollars.
How is the game played? How is the winner decided?
- Powerball consists of two drums with balls in them. One drum is used for the white balls and one for the red "Power" ball, which gives the lottery its name.
- Its drawings are drawn on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights at 10:59 pm Eastern Time at the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee, Florida.
- The winning numbers are announced on television, on the Powerball website, in newspapers, and online.
- In order to win the jackpot, players must correctly match all five white balls, plus the red Powerball.
There's no guarantee that a jackpot will be awarded in every drawing. If no one picks all six winning numbers, the jackpot rolls over to the next drawing and increases in value.
Each ticket costs around 2 or 3 dollars or Rs 165!
What's happening now? On Monday, (October 31) the jackpot climbed to $1.2 billion after no one matched all six numbers to win the jackpot. That makes 38 consecutive draws without a jackpot winner since the last person won the big prize on Aug. 3.
It will be interesting to see if someone gets lucky tonight and wins the money.
