A new Ola scam has drivers hacking the Ola system, claims Reddit thread

In today's world, scams are becoming increasingly common and sometimes, it is very difficult to save yourself from the treacherous branches of various kinds of scams. Now, in the most recent one, people are claiming that the drivers of Ola have managed to hack into the system and charge high prices.

What

  • A Reddit user with the name, "" recently shared his Ola cab experience, where she was booking a cab on Ola to go meet her friends but things turned ugly really soon.
  • In her story, she says that she booked the cab and then called the driver to confirm her pickup location.
  • But then within just 3 minutes, she received a call from an unknown number where a man started to tell her that he was her driver and he was coming to her location.

She says, "I was confused as I had just spoken to the driver from the number provided in the Ola app. This fraud then asked me to give him my exact pick-up address. I told him I just told you minutes ago and confirmed my pickup. I also remember thinking that the driver had sounded older but this fraudulent driver sounded younger and different. He started insisting again that I should give him my address."

  • However, luckily she did not give the person the address, and the driver, in turn, started abusing her.
  • Upon getting suspicious, she further checked the number on Truecaller app (a app for identifying numbers and spams), only to realise that the number was showing as "Ola Scam".
"I felt something was off and immediately checked his number on Truecaller. He was listed as "Ola Fraud". This man has hacked into Ola server and gets customer details LIVE so he can contact us. I am sure he is part of a group of people who do this in other cities."

The scary part

But that's not all. The user further shared that she wasn't able to find the details about the original driver- who she talked to in the beginning.

She claims that someone "entered Ola's system in real-time and their data is erased from Ola server so it can not be traced back!"
