In the midst of life's hustle, it's essential to hit pause and recharge. But in a world of work and responsibilities, finding time for self-care isn't always easy. Introducing the latest trend that's taking self-care to a whole new level: Kidulting.

What's Kidulting?

Born out of the pandemic's lockdown blues, Kidulting is the art of adults indulging in activities that were once the realm of children. From playing video games to collecting toys, watching cartoons to exploring theme parks, it's about tapping into youthful joy.

Dr Dipra Agarwal, a mental health expert, explains Kidulting as a way to unwind, revive nostalgia, and channel creativity, bridging age boundaries.

The concept highlights the idea that even though individuals have grown up and are considered adults, they still enjoy and participate in things that are often considered more suitable for younger age groups

Kidulting can encompass a wide range of activities, such as:

  • Playing video games
  • Collecting toys
  •  Watching cartoons
  • Reading children's books
  • attending theme parks,

and

  • participating in various forms of playful and nostalgic entertainment.

The rise of kidulting can be seen as a reaction to the stresses and responsibilities of adult life, as individuals seek out ways to unwind, relive positive memories, and tap into their creativity.

Dr Agarwal further explains that it "also reflects the blurring of traditional age boundaries and the recognition that people of all ages can find joy in activities that were once considered exclusive to certain life stages"
