Fly Air India, then travel on one of 5,600 trains in Germany on just one ticket

What if we told you that your Air India ticket could now open the doors to more than 5,000+ rail connections in Germany? Air India passengers who have booked tickets to fly to Frankfurt can now seamlessly include a train connection on Deutsche Bahn to over 5,000 stations in the country.

The what and how

  • Air India has unveiled a new intermodal interline agreement in partnership with WorldTicket, the exclusive distributor for Deutsche Bahn, Europe's largest railway operator.
  • Under this agreement, passengers flying with Air India to Frankfurt now have the option to seamlessly include train connections to 5,600 stations across Germany, all conveniently bundled into a single ticket.
  • This announcement marks the first step after Air India's commitment to bringing in technology that will enable travelers to easily reach more than 100 cities and towns across Europe and the UK using just a single ticket.

"We observe substantial passenger traffic on our Frankfurt flights that further connects to and from other German cities and towns, and this partnership addresses the needs of an increasing number of such guests. We are delighted to be working with WorldTicket and Deutsche Bahn in this effort."
- Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial & Transformation Officer, Air India

More details

In addition, passengers now have the choice to use Deutsche Bahn trains to travel to and from Amsterdam, Brussels, and Zurich through Air India's Frankfurt gateway. Air India also guarantees, in their tweet, that those who book a combined flight and train ticket will enjoy the same baggage allowance on the train routes as they do on the airline's flights.

Air India currently operates daily flights between New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) and Frankfurt Airport (FRA).
