Delhi Police have made some startling revelations in the Shraddha Walkar murder case. Reportedly, Shraddha wanted to leave Aftab at any cost, and they had decided to part ways on May 3 or 4, but Aftab was unable to take the rejection. Police sources say this was Aftab's motive behind the murder.

Updates:

Shraddha wanted to leave Aftab: Delhi Police sources say that Shraddha wanted to leave Aftab due to the abuse and harassment, and the two of them had decided to live separately from May 3 or 4.

  • However, Aftab was upset over Shraddha leaving him and didn't want her to get involved with someone else. Delhi Police say this led Aftab to murder Shraddha.
  • Earlier, it was reported that Aftab told the police he killed Shraddha after they fought over household expenses
  • Aftab had also claimed that Shraddha was pressurising him to get married which often led to them fighting.
  • Delhi Police sources claim that Shraddha's murder doesn't seem to be a case of sudden provocation but of a well-planned conspiracy

Did Aftab recently get rid of evidence? Police also suspect that Shraddha's body parts were still at Aftab apartment in September-October when Maharashtra police called him for questioning.

Where are Aftab's parents? As for Aftab's parents, the police have not found them involved in the murder so far.

Narco test: On the other hand, Delhi Police will seek court permission to conduct Aftab's narco test on December 1.

  • Currently, Aftab's polygraph test is underway. Reports say that Aftab has been confident while answering questions but has evaded answering critical ones.
  • On Monday, November 28, the police vehicle in which Aftab was being ferried was attacked by a group of men carrying swords. After the incident, security has been increased for Aftab.

  • It needs to be noted that narco test is not admissible as evidence in court. Delhi Police wants to use the method to filter the truth from lies from Aftab's confessions, as they believe he's deliberately trying to mislead them.

What police have found so far: So far, 13 pieces of bones have been recovered and sent for DNA testing. A Delhi Police team is still searching Mehrauli forest and other locations for possible recoveries.

  • Bloodstained tiles from Aftab's Chhatarpur apartment have also been sent for testing. Delhi Police have also seized some clothes from his apartment.
  • Police have seized some knives from Aftab's apartment and a suspected murder weapon used to chop Shraddha's body, from Mehrauli forest. All of them have been sent for testing.
  • Police are also trying to unearth Aftab's Google search history and social media activity. It has written to various tech giants and social media companies regarding the same.

Other people questioned: Delhi Police also spoke to a woman who Aftab reportedly dated soon after murdering Shraddha and who also visited his flat while Shraddha's body parts were still stored in the fridge

  • The woman is reportedly a psychoanalyst by profession.
  • According to police sources, Aftab also "gifted" Shraddha's ring to the woman
  • Delhi Police has reportedly taken into custody one of Aftab's friends, Badri, and questioned him on whether he knew about Shraddha's murder.
  • Aftab and Shraddha reportedly met Badri while on their trip to Himachal Pradesh. He helped them get the Chhatarpur apartment.
  • Badri also lived in Chhatarpur and vacated the flat in May this year, making police suspect his hand in the murder.
  • But so far, the Delhi Police has not found anything suspicious about Badri.
  • Delhi Police has also spoken to more than a dozen people from Mumbai to Himachal Padesh, who knew Shraddha and Aftab or had met them briefly.
  • Shraddha's friends have told the police and the media that Aftab used to physically and mentally abuse Shraddha to the point that in 2020, she filed a police complaint and was also hospitalised.

Shraddha's letter to the Mumbai Police from 2020 narrates an eerie similarity to Aftab's threats that he would kill her and cut her up into pieces, to the fate she met in 2022.

Recap: Aftab Amin Poonawalla is accused of strangling his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar to death on May 18 (date unconfirmed) and then chopping up her body into over 30 pieces and scattering them around Delhi at various locations over several days to get rid of the evidence.

Shraddha met Aftab in 2019 through the dating app Bumble and shortly after that, they started living together. However, Aftab turned out to be abusive towards Shraddha. They reportedly shifted from Mumbai and decided to travel to the hills for a few days to give their relationship a second chance. After the trip, Aftab and Shraddha took an apartment for rent in Delhi's Chhatarpur in May, and days later she was murdered.

Shraddha was reported missing only in October by her estranged father Vikas Walkar after her friend raised an alarm. Due to the time lag and lack of witnesses, the police are finding it difficult to find evidence to pin the crime on Aftab.
