Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released the Term 2, Class 10 and 12 results today. More than 34 lakh students took the exams this year and due to student protests, the CBSE followed a 30:70 formula for its Term 1 and Term 2 examinations. The overall pass percentage this year is 94.4% for Class 10, and 92.71% for Class 12.

  • The overall pass percentage for Higher Secondary has grown in recent years: Despite the pandemic, 2021 was the best year so far, with more than 99 percent of students passing.
  • When compared to prior decade patterns, this year's outcome is considerably better.

  • The trend was very similar for students appearing for their Class 10 exam: 2021 was the best year for Class 10 students too, in terms of performance, with 99.04% of students passing.
  • In terms of consistency over the past few decades, there has been a steady but good rise in pass percentage overall.

  • Boys v/s Girls: Girls have outperformed boys this year as well. If we look at the data, the pass percentage of girls has been higher than boys in CBSE every year for Classes 10 and 12.
  • 2017 was an exception though: the pass percentage of boys was higher than girls, but by only 0.9 percent.
