Megan Thee Stallion might need a better lawyer now, other than She-Hulk, given her legal clash with the Rapper Tory Lanez AKA Daystar Peterson.

Jokes aside, Megan thee Stallion took the stand as a witness on December 14 regarding the assault trial of singer Tory Lanez for shooting her in the foot in Los Angeles Superior Court. This was the first time Megan spoke about the details of the incident that unravelled after July 12, 2020, after Kylie Jenner's pool party.

What happened at the trial? Megan Thee Stallion whose legal name, by the way, is Megan Pete narrated the incident in the courtroom about the exclusive details of the case on Wednesday, December 14.

Latest update: Since the trial started it has seen many ups and downs, here's what's going on right now:

Megan’s former friend — and ex-assistant — Kelsey Harris wrote a diss track, which Harris released in 2020 following the shooting and is titled Bussin Back. It includes a direct mention of the roadside assault: “(Who shot ya?) ‘Cause you know it wasn’t me / I was 10 toes down whenever you had beef.” Variety reports that the song was submitted as evidence in court. Tune in for yourself:

The night of July 12, 2022: According to ABC news, Megan testified that on the night of July 12, 2020, after she and Lanez and her two friends were returning from Kylie's Pool party, and she got into an argument with him.

Afterwards, when she got out of the car and was walking away, and then, she turned her head and saw him with a gun.

He was holding the gun pointing at me and said dance b**t*h and fired his gun, injuring both her feet.

I froze...I felt shocked. I wasn't really sure if this was happening...I looked at the ground and saw the blood…everyone was shocked.

Megan added that the shooting and its aftermath have impacted her health, both physically and mentally.

I can't hold conversations with people for a long time. I don't feel like I want to be on this earth. I wish he would have just shot and killed me, if I knew I would have to go through this torture

After July 12, 2020: As narrated by Megan, Lanez did not stop there and asked if she could keep her mouth shut, and offered her '1 million dollars for it'.

Why now? Megan however did not speak up against Lanez late until two months after the incident. During an Instagram live on August 21, 2022, she got emotional and alleged, that Lanez was her alleged shooter and initially she "tried to spare" him.

Megan mentioned in the Instagram live video that she initially did not report being shot to the police or that they had a gun in the car - which became a part of the defence's line of questioning during court proceedings, according to media reports - because she had a fear and mistrust of police in the aftermath of a string of police-involved shootings of unarmed Black men and women in the United States (initially she told the police that she got hurt because of 'glass' ).

'Lanez can face up to 22 years of prison'

  • Lanez pleaded guilty, on November 18, 2020, to the three charges he is charged with.
  • In the beginning, he was detained on a charge of concealing a firearm in a vehicle (not for allegedly shooting Megan).

  • Now, Lanez is charged with assault with a semiautomatic firearm, personal use of a firearm, and carrying a loaded, unlicensed firearm in a vehicle.
  • According to prosecutors, he "personally inflicted significant physical harm."
  • He can face up to 22 years and eight months in state prison if convicted as charged, according to Vulture.

What is Lanez's defence?

In these two years, Lanez was often found accepting the legal trouble he is in, even though, he never pleaded guilty.

According to his lawyers, the whole case is just out of 'jealousy'.

We are confident that at the conclusion of this trial the truth will come out and Mr Peterson will be exonerated of all charges
