It is safe to say that “PM Narendra Modi is a Bollywood fan” is a thought that, very reasonably so, has little chance of crossing your mind. However, a recent tweet by the PM hints that maybe that's not quite implausible a thought.

What

On Thursday, September 14, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X to extend his wishes on Hindi Diwas, an annual observance dedicated to promoting the Hindi language.

Since PM Modi’s tweet, X saw a lot of popular accounts doing the same.

While most of those posts were your usual ones, the Embassy of Israel in India went a bit beyond by adding a pinch of Bollywood to it.

The Embassy shared a video on X, where several officials are seen performing a skit featuring popular Bollywood characters along with their iconic punchlines.

In response, PM Modi re-shared the Israeli Embassy’s post along with the iconic Amitabh Bachchan dialogue from the movie Mohabbatein (2000), as the caption.

Parampara, Pratishtha, Anusashan... Ye iss Israel Embassy ke teen stambh hai (Tradition, prestige, discipline... these are the three pillars of the Israel Embassy)” read the caption of PM Modi’s post.

The Internet’s reaction

The Internet was quick to catch on, and the reactions and comments started pouring in.

Mohabbatein starred Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Uday Chopra, Jimmy Shergill, Jugal Hansraj, Shamita Shetty, Kim Sharma and Preeti Jhangiani in the lead roles. The movie was directed by Aditya Chopra.
