Kanye West wore a KKK-style hood at Vultures album listening party

Known to make the most controversial headlines and shock his fans for his questionable actions, Kanye West adds wearing a Ku Klux Klan (KKK)-style hood to his list, during a listening party for his upcoming album "Vultures".

What

• The 46-year-old American rapper-songwriter reviewed his upcoming collaborative album with Ty Dollar Sign during the 'Vultures Rave' event in Miami on December 11 and took the stage several times donned in an all-black outfit topped with a pointy black hood with eye holes that is reminiscent of the gear worn by the American white supremacist group, the KKK.

• This event also featured music stars including Chris Brown, Kodak Black, Offset and Kanye West’s children North, Saint and Chicago.

• The rapper has even before included fashion signs that were suggestive from the Ku Klux Klan. In the past, the music video for the 2013 track Black Skinhead, written as BLKK SKKKN HEAD on YouTube, features a trio of the startling black hoods as the opening visual. 

• The video, directed by Nick Knight, proceeds to feature the unholy trinity of hoods that are magnified and become the backdrop on which an AI version of West delivers the entirety of the song.

Recent controversies

• In the past, West has raised eyebrows for a plethora of controversial moments. These include West launched T-shirts that read White Lives Matter at a show for his fashion brand Yeezy in October 2022, to which he later wrote, "Everyone knows that Black Lives Matter was a scam."

• The American singer-songwriter also made a series of antisemitic statements in 2022, where he wrote "Going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE … You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda." He further added, "Every human being has something of value that they brought to the table, especially Hitler … (Nazis) did good things too." West had also posted an image of a swastika blended with a Star of David.

• Adidas ended their relationship with the rapper following the comments, terminating a profitable partnership that had launched the rapper’s Yeezy trainer brand to big success. Other companies such as TJ Maxx and Foot Locker stopped stocking Yeezy products, while Gap ended their partnership with West.

Vultures is a collaboration with rapper and singer Ty Dolla Sign, with the duo styled as ¥$, and is set to release tomorrow.
