Delhi polls: Ten reasons why I would vote for Ajay Maken

1. Responsible for Delhi's lifeline: Delhi Metro is that feather in the Congress' cap which no one can ignore. Getting CNG-run buses and cars implemented is another huge pointer which works in the party's favour.

2. Development: The Congress is responsible for all the development that the capital has seen and experienced in the last ten years. Even when MCD was free from the party's control, the Congress managed to get the job done in a fine manner. It was the Congress which designed the entire road map of setting many unauthorised colonies straight, on a large scale.

3. Clean image: His public image is immaculate and he's never been charged of any corruption charges. His career as a sports minister has fetched him an A grade in the report card of politics.

4. Youth appeal: Maken is an energetic, young leader. He would give a tough fight to both Bedi and Kejriwal as his clean image will have a youth connect.

5. The third option: Initially, it appeared as if the Delhi polls would be a simple "this or that choice" with Kerjiwal and Kiran Bedi battling out. Maken's candidature has brought about an interesting third angle to the story.

6. The Congress trusts him: Maken is considered pretty close to the party's leadership. He has earned the trust and support of the Congress high command.

7. Excellent speaker: Ajay Maken is known for his brilliant public speaking skills. He is also proactive on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. He responds in no time to offer his opinion on any matter of import.

8. No difference between "speech" and "action": In the last Delhi Assembly elections, when no party achieved majority, it was the Congress which moved forward to give its support to the AAP. Establishment of the government would have been real tricky had the Congress not extended its support. It stood its ground on the promise of maintaining its support to Kejriwal's party, which is rare today.

9. Congress is a party for one and all: The credit of building the nation from its basic foundation goes to the Congress party. It's the only political party which respects all religions, caste and creed equally. People know the Congress belongs to each one of them. The party may bank upon its secular image for these Assembly elections.

10. Belief in the system: Kejriwal shook the loose administrative set-up of Delhi before stepping into politics. Kiran Bedi joined the civil services' front after leaving her glorious IPS career. But Ajay Maken is your quintessential candidate for the post of Delhi's chief minister. He will indeed get votes as he firmly believes in the functioning of the system.
