Lance Naik Hanamanthappa Koppad, who was rescued six days after he was buried under 35ft of snow at an altitude of 20,500ft on the Siachen glacier, passed away on Thursday at 11.45am.

Hanamanthappa had been rescued on Tuesday and had been brought to the Army R&R hospital for treatment.
In the last medical bulletin that had been released early on Thursday morning, his condition was reported to have been critical.
